Swatch and Alserkal Advisory welcomed visitors to the Swatch Art Peace Hotel, based in Shanghai and celebrated here at the vibrant Dubai based Alserkal Avenue.
Swatch presented 10 artists and their works, which were selected to celebrate the first 10 years of the Swatch artist residency.
The Swatch Art Peace Hotel first opened its doors on November 1st 2011 in Shanghai, to artists from all over the world, where they can live and freely create their art with the support of Swatch.
Since then, the artist residency has welcomed more than 420 creative talents from 54 countries. All the different cultures, disciplines and generations created a kaleidoscope of ideas, talents, projects and dreams. The Swatch Art Peace Hotel serves as a starting point for energy and creativity, towards a better, new and different world.
Since its opening, Swatch have celebrated the artists and their work in Paris, Venice, Biel, Milano, Locarno, Rome, and now: Dubai. This is a very special destination as it coincides with the presence of Swatch as Official Timing Provider at Expo 2020 Dubai.
Swatch are also proud to show the artworks of 5 artists from the UAE. They are: Noor Al Suwaidi, Diaa Allam, Ebtisam Abdulaziz, Khalid Al Banna and Khalid Mezaina. All these artists have embraced the creative challenge of designing an artwork for the unique Swatch X You customization platform.
